The preliminary ballot for the 2014 Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards was sent this week to voting members of the Hawai`i Academy of Recording Arts, and there are TWO releases from Seattle area artists considered eligible for nomination in the category of "Hawaiian Album of the Year."
O HAWAI`I by Al Tringali KAUHANE by Elias Maulili Kauhane, Jr.
(Note: these albums are not "nominees" - they would be so only if they garner enough votes to move on to the next round, the final ballot. But HARA accepted that they fit the criteria to be eligible for consideration this year.)
I hope you will join me in congratulating both of these fine Hawaiian musicians from our area, and wish them well in the voting to come. We are fortunate to have such excellent musicians represent our region in the awards balloting this time out. Maika`i No!
Congrats Bruddah Al. You have been acknowledge & that alone is a fine accomplishment. I'm wishing both you & Elias (even though I don't know him)the best of luck & hope you both garner enough votes to become full fledged nominees. Gotta be nominated before you can win, right??? And who knows????
