Another good "Sons" concert. Nearly a sell-out. Seeing old buddy Patrick Landeza was a plus and I hope he'll be back here on his own. Looks like Eric Lee is officially part of the Makaha Sons. He's an experienced player and obviously has done his homework. He has a stronger voice than John did and it shows in concert; he sings some of the leads. We'll always miss John, but this is pretty close. I've seen the boys 25 times over the years (including 12 of Tula's shows). IMHO they are the best Hawaiian group ever and Moon Kauakahi is one of Hawaii's greatest song writers. I'm glad that someone here in San Diego does the legwork to keep the Makaha Sons coming here yearly. If you missed them, they will be at Whittier College in January. The good news is they won't be playing Christmas music; the bad news is the drive to Whittier. |

Aloha Chunky,
Enjoyed it as well! It was my 6th time and I even managed to get my hubby out of the house for it. I think Eric fits in very nicely with Makaha Sons and has a great rapport with Gerome and Moon. Mahalo Tula for your efforts to bring Hawaiian Music to San Diego. Next up - Hapa!
Mele Kalikimaka to all Taropatchers!
