Poina 'Ole - Never to be Forgotten
Doug & Sandy McMaster

Disgraceful! You repeatedly have left us off your supposed official lists...
You cannot be trusted. Biasing and interfering with this process.

Very Sad. All entries, including us, are hard working musicians and deserving of a fair review and voting process regardless of your personal preferences.

And you are part of HARA... so disappointing.
Shame is on you.

Aloha nui,
Sandy & Doug

Thanks for the update, Sandy & Doug. I found the same list somewhere else, and you were also missing from that one, so someone else has the information wrong (perhaps that's where Auntie Maria got the list). I made sure to correct it for the Seattle-area Hawai`i Radio Connection folks (who probably don't have your CD, though).

Another category for musicians from the Islands this year is the new American Roots Song one, which also features a number of familiar names.

don't shoot the messenger!

Here is the complete (?) list of island albums on this year's Grammy initial ballot, from John Berger's column in the Oct 20 Star-Advertiser:

The Mountain Apple Co. record label released a list of the Hawaii and slack-key albums on the preliminary ballot in the best regional roots category, which includes Hawaiian, Cajun, zydeco, polka and Native American music. They are:

» "‘Io," by Nathan Aweau (Bass Plus Music Arts)
» "Maliu," by Ikaika Blackburn (Na Hoa Records)
» "Mele ‘Ailana," by Manu Boyd (Hui Waianuhea LLC)
» "Hula 2," by Robert Cazimero (Mountain Apple)
» "Kahele," by Kuana Torres Kahele (Kuana Torres Kahele)
» "Hula Ku‘i," by Kahulanui (Palm Records Inc.)
» "You Should Know By Now," by KUmZ (Kauakoko Foundation)
» "Bumbye," by Kupaoa (Hulu Kupuna Productions)
» "Slack Key Huaka‘i," by Patrick Landeza (Addison Street Records)
» "Manawa," by Mailani (Ha Enterprises)
» "Na‘auao," by Sean Na‘auao (Mountain Apple)
» "Vibrant People, Thriving Lands: Ho‘ola Lahui, Ho‘oulu Pae ‘Aina," by various artists (Kamehameha Schools)

Albums by three Hawaii recording artists are under consideration for best pop instrumental album:

» "‘Ukulele Dance," by Taimane (Mountain Apple)
