...but last night I had the honor of shaking hands with my slack key idol--Ledward Kaapana.

I gotta say, I was giddy like a school girl! I was literally shaking afterwards, and grinning from ear to ear for the rest of the night.

Also, he and George Kahumoku Jr. couldn't have been more friendly!

Glad you got the opportunity. As great as Ledward is as a slack key guitarist, he is equally as great as a man. Hard to find anyone who is at the top of his art form so humble. He's just a good bruddah.

He's easy to talk to and ready to share his knowledge. Plus he's a funny guy.

I love the guy and I really miss his workshops that he and Milton made available a few years back. Led is truly a Hawaiian's Hawaiian. Unbelievably talented...flawless.

Yes- it would be nice to have more workshops with Led.

My first Hawaiian Music workshop was with Led in 1995, in Hilo.

He does often teach at George Kahumoku's workshop in June but he does not usually teach for the whole week, just a couple of days. During that time he usually has super-duper jams with folks like Jeff Peterson and Dennis Kamakahi, etc. Last year Herb Ohta' Jr. took a "semi-private" lesson with Led (that nearly every other person in the workshop attended).

After my wife, Sheila was killed, Ledward found out about it (from Herb Jr.). No matter where he was in the world, he called me every week to see how I was doing. I really appreciated his support.
