One of the Hawaiian fishponds on the windward side of O`ahu was called Ka`elepulu, "The Moist Blackness." It was renamed Enchanted Lake when the area was developed as a subdivision of Kailua in the 1960s. http://www.kaelepulupond.org/general-information/history/

The pond connects to the Pacific via Ka`elepulu Stream, which exits at Kailu Beach on those rare occasions when the mouth is not blocked by sand.

Our rental on this trip is located on the stream and the waterway give us an ever changing view with fish, birds, boats, and standup paddlers passing by. When I started thinking of a video tribute to our hosts and their home I naturally thought of "Wai O Ke Aniani" - "Sparkling Waters."

I've been keeping my guitar tuned to taropatch F but I found that this song played nicely in a drop C type tuning, so I lowered the bottom string and came up with a Bflat version of drop C. Because we've had very brisk trade winds this spring my miked recordings were not too successful, but I recently installed an LR Baggs Lyric pickup in my guitar so I used that source direct into my recorder.

Most of the video was shot on various Panasonic Lumix G series cameras, with one clip from Lynn's iPhone 5. The timelapse feature is built-in to these Lumix cameras which added some fun to the process.

Purrrrrrrrrrrrr :-) I'm very fond of Drop Bb too...it allows my lazy self to play/sing in F using the fuller chords of Drop C, without figuring out anything new <G>

Also just hangin'. Went to The Willows last night to see the Abrigos. It was good. Taking steel lessons from Alan Akaka. Touring ancient sites of Oahu with my pal, Don Eads. Played and participated at the Maui steel guitar festival. Walking on the beach. Are you going to play with Ledward tomorrow evening? I'm staying in Kailua, next door to Doug Fitch.

No Ledward at Kona Brewing, no Mike Kaawa at Honey's today.
