Patrick Landeza, author and musician in the style of kī hōʻalu (Hawaiian slack key guitar), will do a performance at Mission College Library that incorporates music and his story of cultural identity as a mainland Hawaiian. Author of Danny’s Hawaiian Journey and winner of the prestigious Nā Hōkū Hanohano award in 2013 for Slack Key Album of the Year, Patrick is of Hawaiian ancestry and is proud to be the first musician outside Hawai’i to win this slack key award. He is also a talented jam and jewelry-maker and is also a middle school teacher.
