On the east side of Kailua, O`ahu, Hawaiians managed a fish pond called "Ka `Elepulu" or "The Moist Blackness." The pond connects to the ocean at what is now Kailua Beach Park. When a developer built a subdivision around the pond he renamed it Enchanted Lake and took that name for the development as well, and today the pond and connecting stream are surrounded by houses, a golf course, several schools, and a shopping center.
For many years we've stayed near Kailua Beach when we came to Hawai`i, but last year we connected with some new friends who live in Enchanted Lake and have a small rental cottage. We found this new location to have its own charms, especially including the sights and sounds of Ka `Elepulu Stream.
This year we invited Led Kaapana over to play a little slack key and shoot a little video and we wound up entertaining some outrigger canoe paddlers out for a practice run. Here's a slack key instrumental version of "E Ku`u Sweet Lei Poina `Ole" from Ka `Elepulu Stream:

A beautiful video, beautiful scenery, and lovely playing, this was
a joy to watch, I have watched many of your video's in the past and
have enjoyed all of them, a pleasure.

Fran, you always make the best videos both audio-wise & visually. Whether it's just you, with Ledward or Led solo they are all high quality & very enjoyable. I could have had a few of your great videos had I not suffered a severe case of "Red light fever" (Stage/Camera fright  ) When I sat with you at Kaka'ako Waterfront Beach Park a few years ago. But that's okay because it was another very enjoyable kanikapila session we had that day. Mahalo for sharing this one, bruddah. |

Hey, Duke, I keep hoping to break free and hook up with you and some other buds, but this trip has turned out to be hectic with pet sitting jobs at multiple locations along with car problems ... our Honda is the only one we know who doesn't love coming to Hawai`i.

Hey Fran
I been hella busy too. Everyone wanting to get together for a potluck kanikapila (Including Led & Zach) but I can't find the time. Between work & other obligations I'm swamped this month. Too bad we're both locked down because I really enjoy the session I have with you. See you soon....hopefully
