I have the sheet music for a Slack Key Lullaby in TAB TaroPatch but want to coordinate playing on a piano. Knowing which strings/frets on the guitar that play middle C on the piano would be extremely helpful.

I am not all that experienced on either piano or guitar. I am using this as an exploratory to learn both.

Middle C is C at the first fret on the second (string closest to the floor is 1st) or B string. This is the same as standard tuning, by the way.

Actually, when reading guitar notation, use fifth string, fifth fret for middle C, (in taropatch)

but since guitar is actually written an octave below where it's notated, the actual SOUND of Middle C Is where Fran indicated. The written location on piano music is the first ledger line below the treble staff.

So it took me years to realize that guitar sounds an octave lower than indicated, and fussy guitarists will use the treble cleff that has a little hook on the Cleff to indicate.
But as the sonnet says, a C is a c.
do it in the octave that sounds best on piano.

It's sometimes confusing terminology in this Sea of Knowledge.
Just so you'll see what I mean.
Si'?

P.S. I offer theory, the going rate is a C note.

While I'm talking to myself...Hey, I'm part musicologist, part mixologist.
From a classical guitar sight...

"all guitar music is written in octave treble clef. They just don't bother to put the little 8 at the bottom of the clef.

what this means is that when you play a middle C on the guitar, a C below the staff that is, that C is actually the C above middle C.

in other words, every note you play on the guitar sounds an octave higher than what is written on the paper. "
