Aloha Kākou,
All TEN of musician and filmmaker Eddie Kamae's wonderful documentaries about various topics in Hawaiian culture and mostly about music are being streamed online at PBS Hawaii only until April 6th 2018. Here is the link for the one about slack key guitar: Kīhōʻalu: Slack Key the Hawaiian Way
https://video.pbshawaii.org/video/3000015105/
Some of you already own the DVD but for those who donʻt - watch this 1993 documentary which features priceless footage of the some of the greats playing slack key! I also highly recommend the doc about Sam Liʻa and the doc about the history of The Sons of Hawaii. You only have a few days left!

Mahalo for posting that link, Claudia. I'm pretty sure that we have the DVD on our shelf, but it is always inspirational to revisit these resources. I played ki hoalu for about two hours yesterday afternoon while the wife was napping (sick, but better today).
I'm beginning to feel the urge to add a few more tunes to the "play list". |

I managed to play one last night... but really want to buy 2 or 3...
I'll just add another wall of cd's, or build an pocket house or addition.
So I went to PBS, but having having trouble finding it where I can purchase. and looks like the link to listen is now not available. But I WANT to buy! What am I missing? (Be Kind--Practice Aloha!) Oh, never mind, I'm on Taropatch! which when you mis-type morphs into: Tao R Patch. |

To help with that new edifice, you can get the Eddie Kamae films on Amazon, or directly from... http://mountainapplecompany.com/?s=Kamae

Thanks. and I've heard from PBS, who confirmed they don't have it, BUT referred me to Amazon...the 800 lb. Gorilla in the consumer room. But sometimes they're our gorilla. Just wish we had some kitty cats. But will try Mountain Apple first...they've been good to us. |

I'm not sure where we got it from a while back, but I found it on line (and not on Amazon) easily enough when Claudia posted recently. When I looked on my bookshelf before hitting "click to buy" there it was. |
