Would anyone know what the song is that Led uses as an intro to Whee Ha swing on this video?: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LclrRT5Y_g8

Is it a song? Sounds like the intro Pavao's Ka Manu, plus something else. I don't know...

Hey Sebastian

Sounds like Sonny Chillingworth's "Malasadas"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckFuoFWElDY

But then again these songs all use a common riff
"Ka Manu"
"Punahele"
"Auntie Alice's 14 Measures"

Most of the songs in G Wahine tuning have that commonality

Sonny probably called it "Malasadas" because of the Portuguese influence on Hawaiian music - the ukulele and Iberian style harmonies - the "himeni" were Protestant hymns sung in the "Shape-note" style of harmony. Iberian style harmonies introduced parallel 3rds and 6ths.

Hey Sebastian,

Here's Ledward playing that same intro to "Wheeha Swing" He simply calls it "Kiho'alu" If I'm not mistaken it was on his "Led Live" CD

There is another source for for this - Rsy KAne's signature track on his Dancing Cat Album Wa'ahila. (Track 7) Though the timing is a little different and he does not go up the neck very far. This track always gets me.

I think it was on Ray Kane's "black album", also.

The tuning is called G Wahine aka Double Slack aka Auntie Alice tuning
It's basically taropatch tuning with your G string tuned down 1/2 step to F#. (D-G-D-F#-B-D) Your "resolve" is the 1st fret of the 3rd string. One string tuned down 1/2 step makes a world of difference.

Hoof Hearted?...Was it you Stu Pedaso?
