Not very Hawaiian, but I hope that everyone has a good day. I'll have to re-tune my guitar from taropatch to play "Danny Boy" tonight. But I'll be playing a green carbon fiber guitar made in Ireland (Emerald X20) when I do.

Earl, I think that "Danny Boy" can be found in GTaropatch, but I'll have to look again. I Scandihoovian, so fish and potatoes like in the Ould Sod. Hawai'i has fish and poi and fish and rice. Humans seem to love fish and starch! Slainte!

Thumbs, I play "Danny Boy" in E to fit my voice - a fine Irish tenor. But that song uses almost all of my two-octave range, hence the key selection. It would be easy enough to play in Taropatch, being basically a I-IV-V structure with a couple of flavorful minor chords added, but I probably could not sing it there. Maybe I'll try tonight.

My best bagpipe story is from many years ago at a professional conference in a wilderness camp outside of Fairbanks in November. After the band and I closed the bar at 3:30 am, we made a procession through the cabins playing bagpipes and singing "Amazing Grace" at the tops of our lungs. Yes, much Guinness and -35°F were involved.

The original name for the mele is "Londonderry Air" ya know. I play it on pedal steel ala Buddy Emmons.
