It's been a while since it's been updated, but as most of you probably there is a TaroPatch.net page at SoundClick where you can hear some of our online `ohana playing their hearts out:
http://www.soundclick.com/taropatch
Some of these tracks are from the 2003 and 2004 CDs, some were just submitted for sharing. Regardless, I've been lax in updating the page and the pending release of the 2005 CD set has inspired me to get off my rear end and put out the call for contributions.
First of all, for copyright reasons all the songs on the SoundClick page must fit one of the following criteria:
- An original composition OR - An original arrangement of a public domain composition OR - A public domain arrangement of a public domain composition OR - A copyrighted arrangement and/or composition with written (or emailed) permission of the copyright holder(s)
In the case of the latter, don't be afraid to email an artist to request permission...you'll notice that many of the songs that are currently on SoundClick fit this criteria.
So, if you have a recording that passes these tests and that you'd like to share with us (and potentially the rest of the world), let me know. What I'll need from you is the following:
- Some kind of copy of the song (128 Mbps MP3 is the ideal) - An image to display along with it (see the SoundClick page) - The name of the song - Your name - The year it was recorded and copyright owner - The composer's name if you know it (try Google if you don't) - The tuning it was played in - A brief description of the song and how it was recorded (click on the Lyrics/Story link for each song on SoundClick for ideas) - Lyrics if you're singing (you can usually find them on web and copy/paste) - Whether or not you want the song to be downloadable as an MP3 (vs. just streamed)
If you missed the CD deadline this is your chance to still be heard by other TaroPatch members. If you are on the CD this gives you an opportunity to share your performance with members who didn't contribute to the CD. (It's also fun to be able to point friends/family members to the page and let them listen to you!)
Let me know if you have any questions.

any idea where I can get Led's or Cyril's email addresses so I can work on the permission issues? Or regular snail mail addresses? Thanks. LRR |

Hi Craig,
I emailed you a bunch of Sarah's stuff (mp3, word doc - just as you specified) several weeks ago. I guess something bad happened, unless you just haven't gotten around to it. Tell me if you want it again and how to get it to you reliably.

I guess the two I posted in here meet the criterion...you can download them easily (right click, save target as...)
I will email you the info you requested. Please wait a bit...the Mele Kalikimaka song needs a little shaping for two speakers instead of one..

For all those offering their tracks, here's what I need from you (ignore the first item if you're on the 2005 CD):
- Some kind of copy of the song (128 Mbps MP3 is the ideal) - An image to display along with it (see the SoundClick page) - The name of the song - Your name - The year it was recorded and copyright owner - The composer's name if you know it (try Google if you don't) - The tuning it was played in - A brief description of the song and how it was recorded (click on the Lyrics/Story link for each song on SoundClick for ideas) - Lyrics if you're singing (you can usually find them on web and copy/paste) - Whether or not you want the song to be downloadable as an MP3 (vs. just streamed)
