OK, I know the February camp just barely ended, but boy am I excited about attending the camp in June! My wife, Tami, and I will be there with guitar and ukuleles in hand. Looking forward to making music and, more to the point, making new mfriends. Would be fun to hear from folks who've been before. Mark has been great with info and the FAQs on their site is quite complete (no wonder they mention several times that you might want to read it before e-mailing questions). Mahalo & Peace

My wife and I and our 9 year old son have been the last two years and will be coming back again this year. It is a great experience and I encourage everybody to come and bring your family. The setting is beautiful and the instructors are the nicest bunch of people you will ever meet. Very fun and relaxing. |

Davey, you may already have done this, but, if you haven't, read all the previous posts about the camp(s) in this forum folder/category. You will find out lots from "folks who have been before". We always talk about the camps before and after, and we will plague the currently returning campers for reports.

Hey, Reid: Yes, I sort of experienced the February camp vicariously in that very manner. Made me even more excited about attending in June. Sounds like you might have been a couple times? |

And Hi, Texas Ed! We look forward to meeting you and your family. That's one lucky 9-year-old -- got him playing music yet? :) |

Actually he started uke classes at camp last summer and enjoyed it a lot. Aunty Nona, who is one of the sweetest people around, gave him a Hawaiian name and has continued to write to him after camp. Like everybody says, it's a real family atmosphere and you will enjoy it a lot. |

Aloha Davey and Ed
My family and I are coming back this year after a one year absence. The girls remember Eric and can't wait to get back. It is a wonderful place. Very family friendly. Looking forward to meeting and reacquainting. My brother and his family have friends they visit up in Sand Point. It sounds beautiful!
See you there!

To dispell the rumor that there are no kanikajammapila sessions with the kumu at the Aloha Music Camp, here's a picture from last week. That's Robyn Knuebuhl in the yellow pants, then Kaliko Beamer Trapp and Sonny Lim. Kevin Brown is standing. I was playing, too, but someone needed to take the picture.
We've been hosting organized jams and song circles for years, and we will have more this June. Miner's headlamps are optional, but oh-so-stylish.
See you there!

Esp if playing in a minor key...or, considering the local avifauna, a mynah key? |

Mynah key -- yeah! :) Nice pic, Mark. Jeez, between playing, teaching, freelance writing and chronicling camp activities digitally, you do it all, bro. Got my Birkensotcks and aloha shirts all lined up and ready to pack. Seeing as it's still winter (with hopeful signs of spring, however} up here, we are looking forward to warm friends and warmer climes. |
