Rendesvous 1840 is more than a signature, it's a philosophy. But there's folks that have them load from under the handle guns in Ohio. I never heard of one with that long of barrel, even among my modernistical friends. There are some serious hunting handguns made, but all are either single shot or revolvers. None are magazine-fed weapons. And two of the biggest only hold five shots, because of the large powerfull cartriges they use. Here in Ohio, that would be an illegal handgun for hunting deer, only revolvers are allowed. Hawwaiian laws may differ. And .357 is the minimum caliber for deer, also. Imho, a large pig would require more stopping power than .357, except at very close ranges. Paul |

Eh, Wanda. You "mountaineers" are responsible for the hard "r" that most of us west of the Appalachians use. The closer to the Atlantic, the more folks swaller their "r"s. Thanks be to the Scot-Irish. Out here in the upper left hand corner ( cue seagull, Retro ) we are rightly accused of swallowing some of our vowells (dawn and don sound the same). Eh, Duke! You figgah errybody's English stay broke, or what? |

I have a major peeve about service in a restaurant. I cannot abide poor service and I make sure the management of a restaurant knows if I am not pleased. (Yes, I do let them know when I am accorded exemplary service, as well).
This Japanese restaurant has a very unique way of providing good customer service.

Man...two "POTLUCK" references in one thread. Then again, I must consider the sources.
As for the "no R in Washington" rule, we used to consider some of the variations; among the most popular: Wrashington Washingtorn Washingtron |

Wanda,
Think "that stream is just choked with fish", "the road was choked with cars", or "that lake is choked with garbage".
It isn't far to "get choke fish in da stream".

Paul, I ws told that the small kine Tabasco bottles were for occasions away from home, when seasoning one's words for ingestion would make them easier to swallow (swaller?). |

Tabasco- that's one of the food groups, ain't it? Beef, pork, seafood, game and chilli peppa water. But I'm nervous around that habanero stuff. Those buggas too much pilikia! I put a 1/2 teaspoon of Dave's Insanity Sauce on a sandwich at work one time, and could hardly eat it for hiccupping. It don't take much habanero to be too much. Ask Auntie Wanda about the hot sauce lady in Barbados. Words not suposed to be a food group, but. Paul |

Kory - swaller is definitely the correct word. It can be when you want your food to go from your mouth to your stomach or when you see one of those birds come back to Capistrano.
Same thing when a pig rolls in the mud -- he is waller-ing.
If you traipse down the road after someone, you are follering.
And where we live is up the holler. |

Wanda, I've come across them pronounciations before. There are a lot of "old growth" and "2nd growth" Tarheels in the mountain loop beyond Arlington up to Darrington, around to the upper Skagit Valley and around towards Sedro Wooley. Lotsa good Bluegrass up there, too (even some moonshine, shh!). Eh, Duke, you right, braddah. All da English stay broke, 'az why get gestures an' pointing li'dat. As long as erybody good natured, can laugh at erybody. At leas' we can agree on music, "G" stay "G" (unless you go jam wit' Mexicans, den "G" is la "Sol" etc.... still good fun!) |
