Please help spread the word about this activity. Angela Manke works with the Director of Cultural Programs at the Seattle Center, and has been working intensively to convince the Center to add a celebration of Hawaiian culture to their annual "Festal!" lineup of ethnic salutes.
The Center agreed to let Angela set up this festival on an available Sunday - September 7 - to show what copuld be done if the community got together for this activity. They are providing facility support, but Angela and a crew of volunteers (many familiar names from the local community) are doing all the work to set up the vendors, the activities, the entertainment, the promotions.
Please help to convince the Seattle Center that the Hawaiian community is strong enough to have their own celebration every year, by spreading the word and by attending this one-day event!

It was most definitely a success in 2008 - so the 2009 one is happening SEPT. 13 in Seattle - with special guest Willie K.
A lot of us will be there to perform again, and to celebrate the Hawaiian community in our region. |

Producer TJ Williamson shoots a lot of footage at various cultural festivals and events around Washington State, and he has been airing much of it on SCAN (community access cable TV) over the years. On his "Cultural Festivals" series, he plans to run much of the material he shot at the 2008 "Live Aloha" Hawaiian Cultural Festival.
The program will air twice - Sunday, September 6 at 6:30-7:30 pm, and repeated Friday, September 11 at 10:30-11:30 am, on SCAN-TV, which is cable channel 77 on most systems in the Seattle area, channel 29 on a few others. Outside Seattle, you can catch a live webstream at www.scantv.org
This will be good to have airing just prior to this year's event, on Sunday, September 13 at Seattle Center. More details at: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Seattles-Live-Aloha-Hawaiian-Cultural-Festival/52732963748
