John King grew up in Hawaii and then moved to the mainland where he was a guitar and ukulele teacher. If you watch the clips, you will see what an incredible player he was. I met John at the Uke Fest West in 2004. He blew everyone away in the evening performances. I took one of his classes and he was a gifted teacher. The last two years running he was the highlight of the NY Uke Fest and I am so glad I stopped by his table to have a chat with him and tell him how much I loved his album of Royal Hawaiian Music.

John was an amazing man, a gifted musician with a brilliant mind. Very sad to hear he is gone. I have and will continue to recommend his book "Famous Solos and Duets for the Ukulele" as the best and most informative ukulele book on the market. Warm Alohas to his family and friends...
