Aloha kakou,
my first post here in this forum. Japan is quite far away - as well from the US&A as from Germany. Hawai'i nei is still the No. 1 travel destination abroad, and many tourists try to keep their memories of the beloved islands alive. Many begin to play na mele 'o Hawai'i nei, ladies start to learn hula, a few do Hawai'ian crafts like hala weaving, lei hulu etc.
On June 20th - between his 50th birthday and the anniversary of his death - there was a IZ Memorial at the PucaPuca in Fujisawa. The place is a small pub, the owners love Hawai'ian music. Kenji Kido -the owner- is a good 'ukulele player and makes the best spam musubi on this planet.
Keonepax joined us and he told me he had a good time. Unfortunately the remote control for the camera failed when he joined us jamming....
Here is a video of one of the three mele I played with a few friends:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVDwNdGbCQM&feature=channel_page <-- Kuhio Bay by Kaliana Bishaw. I'll try to post some more videos of the night in the coming days.
E luana - I hope you will like it a little! Da Haole

Aloha mai e Wanda,
yes, was fun as it always is at the PucaPuca. Forgot to mention that the ahi poke and the lomilomi salmon is really on there... It was our first time to play and sing this mele together - ShuShu got a bit mixed up at the end but who cares? It's for da fun and for sharing. Pau. Mahalo for your kind and encouraging comment on YT.
