Sorry I am late putting this up. We took a little trip to Erie, PA today to waste some money at the Presque Isle Casino, but low and behold, I made $140. Not bad for a few hours of fun, then we drove on Presque Isle peninsula, jutting out into Lake Erie. It was very picturesqe.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yigY-2RCr1A – Unko Pau doing “Kaimana Hila”
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7_Lco5OolI – Here he is doing “`Ulupalakua” and I am ATTEMPTING to sing with him.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Htj8lDx8aQ – Here is Paul playing “Ko Ma`I Ho`eu`eu”, a mele ma`I for King Kalakaua. Not slack key.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPlpNgkst60 – Here is Early Morning Rain.

Now is is another of Paul, he is playing Hilo E. This is the first time we tried recording him with amplification. But it sounds bad electronically speaking. We had quite a bit of feedback the first time I filmed it. The speaker was pointing away from Paul. But I was standing in fromt of the amp while he was singing and it made horrible feedback, just about made me get deaf. So we tried it again without me standing in front of it. It came better, but then the daughter was making pop corn in the kitchen and you could hear the popping of the corn toward the end of the mele. Anyhow, could any of you audio experts please listen to it and tell me what we did wrong. It really did sound much better in person than it did on here. Please be honest with us because how else we gonna learn?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16x5eXNkEIg – Zack playing Kani Kipaipai Does he ever cease to amaze?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BODYWx1PQ9U = Hookani playing “Lei Nani”. Now I am debating with myself if he sings it better than that CUTE Ocean Kaowili or not? Hmmmm….it is a toss up. And here is Derek doing “Hainalei Moon”. What a voice. Oh my.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnMHrjIfnCY – Gabriel Goebbert playing “Moana Chimes”.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GqOyLb7virc – Braddah Terry (ukulele911) – playing I’ll be There. Most beautiful.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GqOyLb7virc – Haoleboy playing Kalena Kai. Wow.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e46cFCFkjH4 – And here, Bob is playing No Ka Po.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WsCzk1b5uEo – Lei Aloha, Lei Makamae by our friend Yondoi from Big Island.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0TVusAQjL3U – Keoki Kahumoku teaching some `ukulele strums.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnDOFMIDuzY – Kaumakaiwa Kanaka`ole at Midnight Mele at the Lwn at Bishop Museum. What a voice.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2gVdfv_ENw – Moke Boy Kamealoha III with some of the nicest falsetto that I have heard.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXSChH3iZvg – Here they are singing “Alekoki”.

2009 Na Hoku Hanohano Awards – Little snippets of conversation with John Berger from the Star-Bulletin and various Na Hoku winners.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4gp0HMuBJs – Natalie Ai Kamauu

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBwL29j_dT8 – Kamakaiwa Kanaka`ole

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_jvV4b4HMKk – Puakea Nogelmeier

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZZBjGRH0SM – Holunape and a wee peek at Aunty Diana Aki. She’s so tiny.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0eo-IbOcIrw – John Keawe

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBUPQMvyhTk – Theresa Bright

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHUOZD0w1oo – Shuji, who took part in Duke dem’s Father’s Day Kanikapila. Visited from Japan, gtt to play with Led. Wow. Now that is a vacation! This one is Ku`uipo Onaona. And this one is Moe `Uhane http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUw0AkcgLao

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzoBBCB09xk = Keonepax doing “Walk Away Renee”. This song really goes well on `ukulele. I like it better than the original from my teenage years.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gNRsNxs77E – Uluwehi Guerrero singing Nani Kamakura with the Maui Summer Music Festival Orchestra. There are plenty others posted from the festival on the poster’s channel. Trouble is the orchestra sounds beautiful but cannot hear Uluwehi’s voice too well. Theinstruments are much too loud for his magnificent voice.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mR4_cTgOECo – The BrothersKaloku & Kiawe “Take me Back”.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1qFwfMAtHA – Makana tells you what he is up to for the summer.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pv2QRK1BEss – Les Paul and his trio - 1946 – Song of the Islands.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdSuNGepAVA – A slide show and a mele which I do not know the name of. Who can help out on this one?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SP1tgtq2jA – Hoku Zuttermeister singing Kapilina at Chiko’s Tavern which many of you suggested Auntie & Unko not go there. It sore enough looks dark, dark, dark. Auntie might trip over her own feet.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMYRIPpHyII – Hi`ilawe and Moon of Manakoora. I never heard Hi`ilawe like this before. Is that a celestina starting about 1:30?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=232kGFHLneM – Hawaiian Music Supply teaching advanced chord progression for `ukulele.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=232kGFHLneM – 1943 film of Sol Ho`opi`i
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jW8adsb-e4c – More Sol Ho`opi`I, possibly. Probably. If anyone thinks this is not Sol Ho`opi`i, please advise.

Very sweet arrangement, nicely played!

So is it (a) rain falling, (b) shower running, or (c) Spam frying in the background?

The problem we encountered on Hilo E is the bass part was very soft on the video. It sounded fine through the speaker, but after we uploaded it to YouTube, the thumb notes were almost lost. That was our first attempt using the guitar through the amp. Any suggestions?

I think it is their camera. All their videos look they were made during a power outage.

Hey Wanda, thanks for including me.

The Kalena Kai link goes to the wrong place though. No Problem, The others show when you get to NoKaPo.
Of the three I posted this week, the one I personally like the most is Hula Medley. Traditional Ki Ho'alu has been my new direction lately.

Bob - I am sorry I screwed up the links to your videos. I musta been tired from the excitement of winning so much money.

Here are some others from one fellow from Japan, who appears to be a relatively new name appearing on you tube. These are all snippets of various albums.

This is his channel and then you can go through what he has at your leisure.
