After suggestions from others, I have decided to start posting the video links for You Tube on Mondays. Well except for this week, because I was out and about yesterday and did not have time to post. But here is this week's videos. Make sure you check out the one about solar cooking of kalua pig. Mmmmmm.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YldG0t12zfw – How to make solar cooked kalua pig. Now is that good for the environment (and tummy) or what?!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-JSzH2OsP4 – Hookani (Derek) playing “Aloha Ia o Waianae”. This is the first time that I have heard this mele, and a most excellent one it is. Thanks, Derek.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cyo-E0hbHrU – A restaurant in Honolulu, The Counter – shows how to make their famous burgers.
Can watch out for the channel of Cyril Pahinui. He does not have any of his own stuff posted there yet, but maybe if you subscribe, some day he’s going to have his own stuff up there, or maybe some hula, or who knows….. Check out: http://www.youtube.com/user/cyrilpahinui
A not-for-profit foundation called Konishiki Kids has a You Tube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/KonishikiKids. Right now you can go to that channel and see videos of ;Ohana Day festivities sponsored and organized by, yes, none other than sumotori Konishiki who appears to be confined to a wheel chair. And don’t forget, he sings like an angel.
http://www.youtube.com/user/dougfitchmusic - And don’t forget that our hauoli haole bolohead braddah, Doug Fitch has posted some very nice videos of him being ontop da TV (‘Olelo TV)!!!! Congrats, Doug. And don’t forget that Doug is an official haumana of Ledward Kaapana. Do you reckon that Led is teaching Doug how for be kolohe?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BgUSvzGnVk – Na Palapalai on Pakele Live. And a special treat – Paul Kim on steel guitar, sweet as can be. One of my favorite mele – Waiulu.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7iZ3NL7m4w – Uncle Bill Tapia – some great talk story. (And the music ain’t bad, neither). If you look on Michi’s page, she has lots of film of Uncle’s recent trip to Japan. http://www.youtube.com/user/thetikitorch
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-K8WS_5DsE – Some SUPERB harmonizing – a group of young men singing “Earth Angel”. Wow.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyJLz78_kKQ – A backyard kanikapila featuring “Uncle Link”. Ahdunno who da heck, but Unko guyz do it up right! There are a few more of Uncle Link available that I have probably commented on previously. But watch them again. Some good music, even one pakini bass.

I am proud to announce what I hope will be a trend: 'Ilio Nui's first youtube video, a beautiful slack key arrangement of "Waikiki".

Mahalo for all the kind words.
I don't know if this has shown up on this list before, but I came across this video in an obscure listing. This is Kevin Brown at his finest. He taught me this song on Moloka`i. In my book, he's one of the finest, pure Slack Key players on the planet. He's a player's player. Frenz 4 evaz, Bruddah Kev.

Dog - that sure was swell.
Auntie did not make a You Tube list this week. I had a bit of a health problem this week that scared the bejeebers out of me. But I am back home now. However, I probably won't make a list for another couple of weeks. We leave Saturday to visit Duke and Jay and see the Slack Key Festival and all kinds of other fun stuff. |

I'm giving serious consideration to come to the Seattle Slack Key Festival in November. I'm doing a hotel and air search this afternoon. Any ideas would be appreciated.
