The semi-annual (not in) Healdsburg Guitar Fest is coming this weekend, I try to make sure Hawaiian music is in the air around all those gorgeous instruments.

This event happens at the "Wells Fargo Center for the Arts" formerly the Luther Burbank Center in Santa Rosa, CA.
I'll be hanging around outside the exhibit hall wherever I can find shade and seats, with an orange ball cap and "He Mele Aloha." I'll be there from early 'til late, so if you're in the neighborhood and feel like playing and singing the parking is free and you don't even need a ticket to the event, unless you want to get in and look at the guitars, that is.

Hey, that was some fun. Sorry you couldn't join us, Dusty, that was some good times at the last HGF. I didn't see Bill Benzel either this time. I also didn't visit many luthiers, the stuff they have is dangerously addicting.
Maybe the high point of the day was seeing Ervin Somogyi playing flamenco on one of his customer's guitars. Nothing flashy or pyrotechnic, but deep in compas, very moving.
We kept a kanikapila going most of the day, with Jerry Sullivan (jlsulle) and Mike Perkins (finemc28) joining in. Rodney Johnson, a friend of Led's, showed up for a while as well. I had planned to call folks in the Santa Rosa area after I got to the venue, but (oooops) I'd left my cell at home.
The next HGF is in two years, and pending memory issues I'll try to post a notice a little sooner. It's about time Hawaiian music took over the place, don't you think?
