Sad day in the guitar world, as some of you may already know, famed guitar player, and creator, Les Paul passed away at 94. On my wish list of guitars to have is a Les Paul, maybe one day.
He will be missed.

Earlier this summer, I watched the film Les Paul: Chasing Sound. It was very well done and inspired me to want to go see Les Paul perform in New York. Sadly, I was not quick enough to seize that opportunity. Les Paul made many contributions to music. Aloha ʻoe. |

I heard a few tributes to Les Paul the past few days. Tinkering and exploring, pushing the envelope. A good example for us. |

I've been a fan ever since I heard "How High The Moon" back when I was a lad. It's a great jam tune. Chuck Berry ripped off Les's intro to "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles" which Les recorded in the early 50's (incredible as that may sound)for the "Johhny Be Good" riff. What people should also know is that Les had a temper and was a practical joker. The legend around LA was that he had to invent multitracking because nobody would play with him. I saw him & Chet Atkins at McCabes (the famous "Chester and Lester" album was recored live there). Les spent the whole evening messing with Chet between numbers. Chet just grinned and went on with it, admonsihing him "Now cut that out!" now and then. He was a genius, no doubt. |
