This week on Pakele Live! with Tony Solis we’re featuring Maui-based MondoKane and his band Coconut Gold.
A singer song-writer known for his unique voice, MondoKane (whose real name is Raymond William Medeiros, but no one calls him that!) writes from the heart and plays a variety of genres. His 2007 album “Kihei Road” is a blend of tropical, Latin, dance and soulful ballads, with a bit of country thrown in. The variety of musicians and instruments included on the album are reflective of the multiple genres, with classical, electric, bass and steel guitars, keyboards, drums, percussion and fiddle, as well as background vocals by artists such as Fiji – and even a rap vocal by Willie K!
Join host Tony Solis for Pakele Live! this Thursday, Sept. 17, from 6-8 p.m. HST in the Pakele Lounge at the Ala Moana Hotel (410 Atkinson Dr., Honolulu). It’s free (no cover/no minimum), all ages are welcome, and free parking is available next door at Ala Moana Shopping Center. Drinks are available for purchase.
You may also watch live online at: http://www.pakelelive.com/ Those in Japan can watch at: http://www.j-wave.co.jp/
You may email the show at pakele @ lava.net – mention your name and where you’re located - city, state – or country, if outside the U.S.!
(Note: Just got an email from a musician friend on Maui - not part of the band - who was at their rehearsal last night, and he said it was GREAT!)
