Wow, Fall has hardly begun and already it's time to think about lazing under the redwoods at Lark Camp. I just learned that registration is now open for next summer: July 30-August 7.
In addition to all the musicians and dancers teaching music and dance from all corners of the globe, our Maui friends Kevin Brown & Robyn Mahealani Kneubuhl will be on hand to teach slack key, hula & `ukulele. I'll teach slack & uke, too. Pete Grant teaches steel & dobro.
I also notice that some of my favorite people, Galician maestros Cano Cadarso and Javier Blanco, and accordion party animal Dan "Daddy Squeeze" Newton will be there, too. Can't wait to hear what Kevin cooks up with those guys!
Hope to see ya there.

Lark starts on Friday... Annie & I have the truck all packed up and we are starting down tomorrow.
Looking forward to seeing some old friends and new faces. I hear rumors that Kalae Miles will be there... does that mean we'll be seeing Julie & Larry, too? Always a treat.
Can't wait to get back to the cool, cool redwoods.
Look for us at the `Ukulele Happy Hour.
cheers,

Well, you'll be seeing Larry on Friday, he'll be bringing Miss Robyn. Julie won't come 'till Sunday or Monday, waiting for the dead Motor home to be revived. The engine's mother board had to be sent to Philadelphia to get a new part installed. Sheesh, we live close to Silicon Valley, you'd think some business there could fix printed circuit boards, but NOOOOOO, it had to be sent all the way to the other side of the USA. She's pretty dead at the moment. Sigh.
If she cannot be revived, Ukulele Happy Hour will be slightly different without the RV and her blender!
I had planned on getting a piano accordion for Dan's classes but am spending all my dough on the RV. Wonder if Pete Grant will take clumsy beginners on steel...
Can't wait! Julie |

Well, Julie did make it, and we did have the Ukulele Happy Hour. I did not miss the blender!
Big thanks to Julie & Larry for driving Robyn; to `Ohana Arago for the getting Kevin to camp and the Luau on Saturday in Boonville, to Kalae, who seemed to be everywhere, to Kevin and Robyn for their classes, and to Art & Robin keeping it all running smoothly.
It'll be a very different Lark next year... but that's what makes the world so great, eh?
Oh, and Julie, wait'll you hear our motorhome story.... |

Oh oh Mark,
That did not sound good... I thought you'd really like your rig, once you got used to all the terrible comforts it might provide. Did it not meet your expectations?
I did have a heck of a time sleeping in a tent so close to the Porta-Potties. Anytime anyone escaped from there, they would run out so fast that the spring-loaded door would SLAM shut with a sound similar to a gunshot. Not exactly conducive to a restful night. But that's Lark for you. I had a blast with all the jams going on.
I'm sure we'll have "Hawaiian" again next year, but can't guess the form it will take. Maybe some local folks would like to do it. That would simplify the transportation issues. Plenny Hawaiian musicians in California!
