Hello to all. I am new on Taropatch. I am a nobody. Just an old man who loves music and plays music as a hobby. I am 71 years old, retired, and live in Thailand where it never snows and has the greatest food on earth. I use to, many moons ago in another life time, play clarinet and sax. Later in life I picked up accordion, then guitar and piano, then I quit all for about five years. For the last year I have been working on piano and guitar. I have always liked Hawaiian Music, however, I just recently came to know it as Slack Key. Now - it is time to go play guitar - later. john

Welcome to the 'Patch, johnra. Were you from elsewhere originally? I can relate to never having snow, sounds good to me. I liked what Thai food I've had, too, though it hasn't been real often.

Ah, yes. I knew I saw the name before (on AGF). Fran's post jogged my memory. Welcome, johnra.

Hi Unko Paul, Yes, I am from USA originally. Born in Michigan, raised in New Orleans, made a career of US Army and then Coast Guard. Retired to Florida and became a bum. Not satisfied I became an international bum. I finally settled for good in just about the center of Thailand. Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat). No snow. Summer, Hot, 365 days a year, great food. Oh, and the cost, what a joke, you can retire in most areas of asia on pocket change. John

Make space; we may be there soon! Pocket change is about all I have, anyway.

Glad you're picking up the guitar. I play buttonbox and mandolin and some Dobro. Ain't music grand. Nice tunes, good interpersonal communication and lowered blood-pressure.

Aloha! If I remember correctly, I met you on the Big Isaldn this past January. You and I sat next to each other at John Keawe's show and then you were in the audience at one of the kanikapila sessions I was playing and singing in. Am I correct?
