Kaua`i is blessed to have the annual E Kanikapila Kakou series -- every Monday night, January thru March. One hour of workshop with a professional musician, followed by a 2-hour concert...and it's all for free. The event has outgrown its former site, and will now be held at Kaua`i Beach Resort (just north of the airport), starting Mon Jan 18 at 6pm. Launching this year's season will be George & Keoki Kahumoku (uiha!). Here's the announced schedule:

George and Liko were fabulous -- and I think this was the largest audience for a regular EKK workshop/concert ever. The place was packed when we arrived 6:30-ish, and hotel workers were having to bring in more chairs as the evening went on.

Looking forward to the weeks and weeks ahead!

Wish I'd known that the last two hours were going to be a concert - we left after 45 minutes of the workshop. Oh well
