Temple Bar's monthly Aloha Sunday Luau Buffet/Open Mic is this Sunday, March 7, in Berkeley, CA: http://www.templebar.org/Aloha%20Sun1.html . The host band is Taropatch's own Hiram Bell and his 'ukulele institute, http://www.templebar.org/Hailama.html . Hiram dem always put on an entertaining show.
Temple Bar is a casual, good fun, local-style restaurant that has supported Hawaiian musicians and hula dancers for many years. Currently, it is the only monthly Bay Area Hawaiian open mic that I'm aware of. The crowd is very appreciative and full of aloha, so no shame coming up and performing (can play any kine music, not just Hawaiian). I'll probably play some slack key.
To be safe, make a reservation. Hiram guys usually fill the house. Hope to see you there!
