What I am wondering is that, as this article suggests, if one is not registered with Kau Inoa, would one be barred from voting on issues that affect Hawaiians?

thats a great article

all we need is for the land to fall into Hawaiian hands and we can kill all the corrupt passer-outters of Hawaiian property and their little fake government in open war and free all 20% of Hawaii for all native Hawaiians, and no, not the government stated 50% / 400,000, but for ALL NATIVE HAWAIIANS, and create a legitimate Hawaiian government in the aftermath

Tetapu, how you can fight for Hawai`i from China? Why you no come back to your roots, come back to Hawai`i and fight for Hawai`i on her land, on her sands? Or are you a voice in the wilderness crying out, "Prepare ye, the way of the..."

As to the Kau Inoa issue, I am checking with a friend here who is the local Kau Inoa representative. I am waiting for him to get back to me on whether lack of registration on Kau Inoa legally bars one from voting on Hawaiian issues once the legislation is passed.

Noeau, if you look at da Kau Inoa registration form, get one section "C" wea you can check and let dem (Kau Inoa / Hawaii Maoli) do da research fo yo kanakafication. I tot dat jus being registad wit OHA wuz enuff awreddy, but wit all dis 2010 Census stuff, and Auntie Wanda's incidental wake-up call fo me troo her postings, I wen found das not enuff! I stay add wun odda deemenshen to my Kanaka Maoli revival, da firs wun mele, now get ke ea Hawai'i. I wuz once koa fo Unko Kamuela, karangin' n bangin' fo HIZ aina, but now I wake up and stand up fo MY aina! We see wat kine kokua da popolo from punahou going geev da Kanaka's. But no matta. I wen stand up and place my name. Betta den nuttin'!
Palaina.

No worry! Can!
Place your name. Kau Inoa.

This comes from Len Jruy, who is a local Ohio Kau Inoa representative, born and bred on Big Island.

KAU INOA and the Akaka bill are not related. Kau Inoa registry is the registering and locating of Native Hawaiians through out the world. When you register with KAU INOA you are stating that you want to be apart of the process to create a native Hawaiian government.
The Akaka bill which may be passed in the Congress has its requirements as to what a person must do or where one has to be residing to vote.
So the answer to your question is: not being registered with KAU INOA will not bar a Hawaiian from voting on the Akaka issues.
