Thank you, Wanda, for causing me to watch it again. Wasn't that Miss Aloha Hula 2009 dancing next to the fourth runner-up for Miss Aloha Hula 2010 in the front row? And the performance wasn't at all diminished by having one of the best Hawaiian singers alive today backing them up.
My wife and I got to see them in concert in Feb. in Maui. (Mahalo nui, Auntie Maria, for the suggestion. The 2 concerts were sold out, as you said.) Still, I was able to shakily film several songs from my seat in the last row of the mezzanine. And I got permission to show one of them 2 weeks later at an all-staff meeting at the mental health center in Washington where I work. Amidst all the talk of grants, cutbacks and the like, it injected great beauty and sweetness to the amazement of many people there. And then the halau turned around and won the Merrie Monarch! As Tony Solis likes to say - "Wow!" |

Mark, I am glad you enjoyed it. I, too, watch these videos over and over. From this link to Halau Kealaokamaile's video, you can access all the other videos that KFVE-TV made available for the Merrie Monarch. I am very happy that we have all those videos to keep us going until the next Merrie Monarch. |

Wow, just wow. Pure chicken skin. I am going to try to forward this video to my friend Aunty Georgiana Clark in Felton, California. Her mother was Lei Collins. How nice to see this song being played more often. Thanks for sharing, Wanda.
Aloha, Julie |
