Barry's 'guitar' has been completely rebuilt/re necked. The original version is a Washburn Monterey. Steve Grimes rebuilt the neck at least once I know of.
The hole is not on a structurally critical part of the soundboard. I'd bet that guitar is in better shape and will be around longer than Barry will be.
