--------------------------------Workshop Details------------------------------------- Workshop "A" Herb Ohta Jr Strumming Patterns & Turnarounds
Workshop "B" Herb Ohta Jr Arpeggios & Finger Picking Patterns
Workshop "C" Ray Alonzo ---Beginner Basic Chords: Know how to play chords, but don't really understand how they are built? You will learn how to play the three basic triads (three-note chords) found in any key. We will start in the key of "C" (easy for all of us!). The main chords in the key of "C" are C, F, and G. ---Buiilding Triads: We will learn how to build triads to create the most basic three-note chord (no flats, no sharps) in each key. --- Finger Coordination: You will also learn finger drill exercises on the first four frets of the GCEA strings using your left and right hand. You will learn how to pick the scale: Do, Re, Me, Fa, So, La, Ti, Do starting with the C note as an exercise. ---Strumming: Basic UP/DOWN strumming using your thumb and index finger. ---Surprise Songs: Using the C, F, and G Chords.
Workshop "D" Gregg Porter You already know some basic chords, and have discovered how much you like to sing and play your uke. Yet every time you bring out the instrument, someone asks if you know any Hawaiian numbers. Don't let your fear of the language keep you from getting a couple Island songs under your musical belt. Uncle Gregg Porter (SUPA, Hawai`i Radio Connection, Halau Hula O Napualani) will help you through a couple of classic songs with easy chording. A little lesson in language, pronunciation and history will give you some background, and you'll discover how easy it is to figure out how to sing in Hawaiian - maybe you'll be able to accompany a hula dancer soon! Recommended for players who have some comfort with a handful of chords and can sing while playing.
Workshop "E" Al Tringali Slack Key and Singing
Workshop "F" Al Tringali Transitions between Guitar to Ukulele or slack key II
