I don't think of myself as a teacher of slack key, in fact when people ask if I teach I _always_ recommend Patrick Landeza locally and Ozzie Kotani globally. But I do present a workshop at the San Francisco Aloha Festival most years, and I try to present something new each time. For the 2010 session I tabbed out a very simplified version of E Nihi Ka Hele, King David Kalakaua's song for Queen Kapiolani's trip to England.
You can see the lyrics at Huapala: http://www.huapala.org/E/E_Nihi_Ka_Hele.html
I learned the song from the Gabby Band version: http://www.mele.com/music/artist/gabby+pahinui+hawaiian+band/the+gabby+pahinui+hawaiian+band+vol+1/
At my Aloha Friday in Downtown Pleasant Hill I captured the song on video and realized that the camera angles were about right for a tutorial, so I edited two clips into a split screen version showing the right and left hands. http://www.youtube.com/franguidry#p/u/0/pcAlT0dNpgk
The tab is available from my web site in a few different formats: http://www.kaleponi.com/music/enihi.htm
Once again let me point out that the tab is not a detailed transcription of the video, or of any other arrangement of the song. It's a bare bones outline of the melody with bass string accompaniment. But I hope the tab combined with the video will help players add this song to their repertoire.

Many many thanks for adding to slack key knowledge base - this is a great tab to build the song off from. I always appreciate folks sharing their hard earned insights with others.
Now if someone could transcribe the guitars from Gabby Band version of this tune . . . . |

This is such a sweet song, I hope you come up with your own version of it.
I also nominate you for digging out the licks from the Gabby Band. Just watch out for Ry Cooder on that mandolin, it'll drive you crazy if you try to find those licks on a slack key guitar <grin>.
