Music from Live Aloha in Seattle – see who you can spock. I see Retro & Braddah Al http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROAfp3O6YOc
First segment was, as Wanda noted, myself with Al (no`eau) - performing as Ke Kai Malino. Second was Elias Ka`uhane (from Kane`ohe) leading his band Napun Tasi. Elias is a fantastic musician, and we're lucky to have him up in the Seattle area. Third was Alika Nako`oka, who is just about to move back home to Maui after many years playing around here; I've been fortunate to sit in with him on a few occasions. Here he is joined by guitarist Jim Lowry, and on bass, Bernie Simeona - both those guys are great players and wonderful people.

Bass player was Roddy Lopez Kaaiohelo, formerly of Pandanus Club, and living up in this area since 1997. He's got a new solo album out ("Hawai`i, My Home") and will be doing a couple shows back home in early October (The Shack in Waikiki, then a show on Maui). |

...and the person filming Cyril & Roddy was sitting right behind our gang - the lady with the hat is our good friend, Joy (writer of the Chang Apana plays that feature Al in the lead role), and from time to time, you can see a flash of Momi in front of her (with the black cap and long black hair). |

More videos that just cannot wait until next week.
This one, oh how it touches my heart. This is the Waimea Valley Kanikapila that was held this past Sunday. It was the first year anniversary of holding the kanikapila at that majestic place. Lanet, Duke, Derek, and indeed, all the musical `ohana has worked so hard to bring this kanikapila to fruition. It is growing by leaps and bounds and is garnering a great reputation as a place to malama `ohana and malama the music of Hawai`i.
Here we find our TaroPatch brother, Kawika96797 (David Soon) and his daughter, Christina, making sweet music. As many of you may know, Kawika is the one who supplies us with superb vintage videos such as the one of Aunty Alice and the one of Aunty Irmgard and of Uncle Andy Cummings. Listen here to Kawika's sweet music while Christina keeps rhythm: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnLJWYs_xF0
You know this next one is a two-box kleenex tear jerker. It is the crowd at the Waimea Valley Kanikapila singing "Hawai`i Aloha". All I have got to say is that if you plan a trip to O`ahu, make sure you are there for the third Sunday of the month so you might partake of the amazing feeling of pure aloha. You see here even the audience is involved: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPb7k19wYHA
This one is Timi Abrigo singing "Ka `Opae", which ws dedicated to Uncle Paul. Yee-ha! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdV7SeLZ7ok
Here is Emily Abrigo singing "U`a Nani o Nu`uanu" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMu6wJM9Mns
Shane Andrade and Stan Combis - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHX6Mgn37Ms&feature=sub
Here is Mike. He is one of Duke's haumana and one of our newer members of TP. Here he is playing Kani Ki ho`alu: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GxKsU14fB5s&feature=sub
Derek (Ho`okani) singing my favorite with Duke making some fine slack key behind him - Waiulu: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=py0IZ30fcyo
Here is Shane with a bit of Ulupalakua: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FTtqxSUvqA
Here is Emily singing a bit of Honokahua Nani E: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hj0AK3b5aC4

Tell me what point you can see Momi, because I see the lady with the hat, but no Momi in front of her. |

Good news! Roddy is producing Gary Madieros' new CD. It is replete with Seattle folks. I laid down steel track on 6 cuts today, and thumbs is coming in this week to lay down his stuff. Stay tuned! |

I will stay tuned, Jack. I love that word "replete". Sounds like it will be a wonderful recording. Best to you, Gary. The vocals are bound to be amazing. |
