Guitar Republic... Amazing but not Hawaiian. Three very good acoustic guitar players. Wow, these three guys are tight.

Well I got Paul a bow that he could use on his mountain dulcimer. I wonder if that would work on a guitar. |

The whole violin family of instruments have a sharp radius on the finger boards, to make it possible to play single strings with a bow. On the nearly flat fret board of a guitar, a standard bow would make single string playing very difficult, if not impossible. The dulcimer bow has this sharp radius built into it, so it would probably work. Unko Paul

Jimmy Page used a bow on his guitar. But as was said he probably only played the accessible strings. But you know when you are at a concert a lot gets missed when the air is full of smoke. |

I remember hearing about how Jimmy Page played the guitar with a violin bow. It sounded quite an impressive thing to do. When I actually saw a film of him doing it, however, I just thought 'ha ha! Is that it? What a load of crap'.
I was much more impressed watching Nigel Tufnel leaving the bow in the stand and playing guitar with the actual violin! |
