The following is a clip from Na Pua o Hawai`i CD by The Makaha Sons. The very last song is "Kaulana Na Pua" sung by a wide variety of wonderful musicians and singers...Del Beazley, Teresa Bright, Manu Boyd, Palani Vaughan,Robi Kahakalau, etc.
Can anyone tell me who is singing in what order? I have listened to this recording for years and the only one I am sure of is Robi Kahakalau. I love this version of the mele. I find it to be most powerful with all the people involved in it. Strength in numbers or something like that.

This track is taken from the 1993 recording, "A Portrait of Tropical Music-Live at the Hawaiian Bash" (and was included again on the CD entitled "Mea Makamae"). Love it. http://www.mele.com/music/artist/del+beazley/a+portrait+of+tropical+music+-+hawaiian+bash+1993/
No Robi or Palani on this one, though.
Del Beazley opens...then Moon, John & Jerome and Manu Boyd (and perhaps Cyril Pahinui) join him. Next solo voice is Manu Boyd, followed by the chorus group again. Next solo...not sure...perhaps John or Jerome or Moonie? Then chorus group again. Then Teresa Bright does her solo, and the group follows. Then...hmmm...Manu again (I think), followed by the group. The closing words are done by Manu Boyd. |
