"Sands Of Waikiki" also called "The Golden Sands Of Waikiki", written by Jack Pitman. Do you have Martin Pahinui's other album "Martin Pahinui"? A wonderful version is on it. The group Po'okela has a great version on their CD "Monnlight Melodeis Of Waikiki" Others have done it also. It's one of my favorite Hapa-Haole songs.
Kawilii at Kanikapila Nights, San Ramon. Once again, Auntie does not know the mele. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WtQpeFfKps
"Pu'uanahulu" Gabby does it on "The Gabby Pahinui Hawaiian Band Vol 1" |

The Kawili number is "Ka Ua Kea," "The White Rain of Hana" written by Pekelo. We were playing the after party for the 30th annual Ia `Oe E Ka La hula competition.
On the following Friday Shaun Gavagan, our lead vocalist, had a massive heart attack and did not survive.

Thanks for the correction Fran. Both "Ka Ua Kea" and Pu'uanahulu" share the same music. Very interesting. I was just going by the melody in the clip when I made the earlier ID. |
