I just finished this book. It is a fun, entertaining read with lots of references to pre-war Martins. I recently met a guy in NYC who owns a Henderson guitar and found this book in my effort to learn more. Check it out, but watch out if prone to GAS.
Andy, I loved this book. As soon as I finished it I threw it into the mail to our friend Mark knowing he would get a kick out of it. I recommend it also. Tommy
I saw Wayne Henderson perform with the Masters of the Guitar (not sure of the official title) tour about 15 years ago, doing Piedmont Blues style. At the time, he mentioned that he had something like a 10-year waiting list for his guitars. Interestingly, it was also the first time I saw Slack Key: Raymond Kane, Led and Keola Beamer.
My lucky! Wayne will be a featured artist at the Festival of American Fiddle Tunes at Ft. Worden in Port Townshend, WA first week of July. I'll get a chance to meet and hang out with him.
Started reading the book and had a hard time putting it down. Great writer and a fascinating story.
My GAS started acting up again while I was reading it though - kind of bad in that respect. Fortunately my wife was right there with the remedy and saved me from a lot of unnecessary suffering.
