We at Pakele Live wanted to share this incredibly touching letter about our Kōkua Japan benefit shows with all those who have been so generously donating their time, talent, goods, services and money to the many fundraising efforts (not just ours) to help our friends in Japan. If you’ve had even the slightest bit of doubt as to whether or not your efforts are being noticed or appreciated, this should erase them:
“I am writing you just to say thank you. I saw on the world coverage news of all the help and activities going on to help Japan and saw a interview about Pakele Live and your fundraiser for Japan. When people here see this and how much people care about everything that has happened, it’s an incredible feeling and gives us hope. It was announced on Japanese radio here about the shows and many people from Japan watched on web and brought very many good messages of hope and thoughtfulness. I heard interview with Mr. Pali about how Willows and Pakele cared about Japan people and did many fundraisers with all of Hawaii musicians.
Thank you so much. I know there are many concerts and big events happening to help Japan, but to do this for so long for us and people here is very incredible gesture of kindness.”
(The author’s name has been removed to protect his privacy.)
We again say MAHALO NUI LOA to the Willows and their dedicated staff and to the many musicians, businesses and individuals who participated in the Pakele Live fundraisers. We couldn’t have done it without you – YOU are the ones who made the difference.
that is a very nice letter. Its realy wonderful to see such warm aloha the event brought, in the midst of such hardship. It make me wonder why all the world people can't be like this and help and support each other instead of war.
