Hi guys.. This is Shawny.. Auntie Wanda had been asking me to come on here for quite some time now, and yesterday I had every intention of trying it, and whatever I wrote wouldn't post! So thanks to Mr. Andy Wang for helping me with getting things streight.. I needed to turn on HTML code, wich I didn't know how to do.

I just figured I'd pop on here to say hello and kind of get my feet wet with posting.. I've really not been on many groups or forums before.

Anyway, I hope you're all doing good.. Have a great week.. And see you on Taropatch.

Shawny

Woo-hoo! I am proud of you Shawny! Now I didn't nag too hard did I?

I know folks will value your input on the many topics that come up here. There are not too many folks in Hawaiian music with the varied background that you have. You not only play amazing guitar in so many different genres but you play just about everything else there is and you do it so well.

Good luck on your new life in California and with Jeni. You both are two beautiful and amazing and special people.

Me ke aloha

Hi guys.. Thanks for the replies! It's great to be on here..

Yes, I just moved to Los Angeles from Hawai'i in March of this year.. After having spent a very long time, some 18 years playing with various people, working in Waikiki for much of this time 7 nights a week....

This past year has been pretty hard for me, having been in an 8 year relationship that was very up and down, and abusive many times due to her having bipolar and BPD (borderline personality disorder), things finally got too out of control, and I left... A very sad situation...
But like a strange magic, I end up meeting Jeni, who is amazingly beautiful to me, and super sweet.. We found out we have a great deal in common, and feel the same about so many important things, especially in matters of the heart, and we got along so well after having met, that I felt the best place for me to be was here in L A to give us a real chance. I had nothing to prove by keeping it a long distance thing

Anyhow, here I am.. One thing I might do later, is start a topic on arguably the most amazingly tallented guy I've ever known, and by far my most influencial musical role model and mentor. He is none other than the legendary Fijian musician Sakiusa Bulicokocoko, whom I'd had the privlidge of knowing and working with for many years..

Anyway, thanks for the comments.. Take care, have a great day, and I'll see you over here..

Shawny

Shawny it's so good to have you here. We all look forward to your input. It's interesting you mention the music from Fiji by Sakiusa Bulicokocoko. I just found a cd by the Mua I Gau Trio And really love it.

Anyway so glad you are here and wishing you and Jeni all the best. Hope to see you in Santa Cruz as soon as you can make it. You have a lot of fans here that remember you from the Na Palapalai concert at Kuumbwa

Shawny - you should come wala`au about your journeys in Japan with Na Palapalai dem. I bet you get plenty stories of fun and excitement. I would be very interested in the Hawaiian music perspective on Japanese fans and Japanese hula halau.
