...I was recently driving (holo-holo) around San Diego w/ PuaHo, and past by this huge field with a hill on it....I see it pretty regular actually and pictured myself playing slack-key out there in the middle of nowwhere...just strumming along. I still haven't done it yet, but its a nice thought just the same....then I thought, (aha moment)...this would be a great idea to have a photo contest of anyone playing their guitar (prefabley slack key) in the most unusual places...it be cool!!!. Andy, maybe you can structure something along those lines and give out a prize. Now if you all want to get a good idea of it, click onto Karl Monetti's profile pic, and you'll see what I mean. You all may be already thinking of neat scenarios right now? Now remember, these photos must be somewhat creative. I wouldn't recommend any underwater photos like a popular rock group has done recently, but something original/creative/different/etc... I have to find me a farm w/ cows...I have an idea aleady. hmmmmmmmmm?

I look forward to the photos! I hope that people will participate. I will need to work on prizes.

So, is this going to be another one of those "planking" type contests??

If so, I have a great idea! Someone should get a picture of themselves playing slack-key while standing in the water close to the edge above Vernal Falls in Yosemite!!

OK... OK... a somewhat sick joke I must admit.

Hopefully, the folks here have somewhat more sense than that!

Slack-planking; it's for the lazier among us. You place yourself between two objects or along one, and you let your body go loose.

Yo Dust,

The new Martin? Did the orange watchband come with it? Led looks like he likes it.

Remember Led has some outrageous red boots. He is not wearing those boots in the photo above but I'll bet they match that watch.

Yup, that's the new one. No extra charge for the watchband (it's actually red).

Here is Paul at the Waimea Valley Kanikapila, August 14, 2010. He is playing Shawn Machida's mandolin thingie -- I think a cross between a guitar/mandolin/ukulele or something like that. I cannot remember what he called that instrument, nor can Paul.

You will have to wait a while, access is closed right now because they are still looking for body pieces.

But not a bad idea at all, or the bottom of Yosemite Falls for that matter, or the bottom of Hi'ilawe (assuming that at least one of them is flowing), but you might want to use a waterproof guitar in such a location.
