Straight answer: It's summer, and a lot of us are playing gigs, or otherwise outside away from computers.

Silly answer: It's not the "awards" time of year, thus less controversy. ;-}

I think social networking sites like facebook have changed the way people spend their time online. Just a thought.

You want excitement? You crave drama? I just lost my gig as a tech writer with a large multinational company who shall not be named - and because of this I am going to have to sell my brand-new National tricone I got to play acoustic steel! Argh!!!

Other than that, not much happening round here...seriously though, we'll be okay - but the guitar has to go. That's life sometimes.

Oh Mike, I am so sorry you lost your job. That is a frightening thing. And the need to sell a beloved instrument, that hurts you in your soul. Please know that you have my best wishes that you will find something else quickly and not have to part with your beloved National tricone.

Thanks so much Wanda for your kind thoughts. It's especially frightening when you have an 8-year old, but as I say we'll get by. The National, it has to be said, was a HUGE indulgence, and giving it up for the sake of our finances would also be good for my soul. So no worries as I like to say. :) Don't want anyone to feel bad for me.

Guitars come and guitars go. It's the playing them that's important.

What the man said :) I already have 3 wonderful instruments, and I was kinda getting into collector mode there. Not really justifiable for me at this point in life.

Wanda, it's been slow for a while- a year or so ago I really enjoyed the pidgin thread, but it seems most of the people who made the interactions lively have moved on to other things. These days posts catch my fancy fairly rarely, so I just check in when I have nothing else left to look at. Sad, I know.

It would be nice if we could get another really lively, humorous thread like that one going again. A place where people really show themselves once more, beyond the realm of music.

(Edit- I looked back and see it was over three years ago, actually, that the pidgin thread started up...)

I don't think it's boring, but the feeling has changed. I still talk with some prominent ex-members of TaroPatch and some of them echo something similar.
I've personally never felt a need to comment on every single thread, and I think that feeling is partly what drove some away.

Anyway, Andy hit it on the head with the social media comment. People do change the way they communicate. FB has altered they way a lot of people communicate. 8 years ago, forums and blogs dominated. Stuff changes I guess.

Still love the group here on TP however!

Cheers!
