We just moved to New Bern, NC. For true! After many other plans, including moving to Hawaii, we ended up in New Bern. We have not scoped out the land for Hawaiians or Hawaiian cultural events since our life, for the past two weeks, has been about unpacking. But we will. If anyone knows of any slack key players in New Bern or its vicinity, please let us know.

Wow Nando!
I thought you had the move to Hawai`i locked. New Bern, NC is about as distant as you can get and still be in the US of A. Hawaiian cultural events gotta be verrrrrrry thin on the ground there. Best bet is to take the Delta nonstop from Atlanta to HNL, or fly up to CT :-).

nando, Are you near any military bases? If so, then there may be some 'locals' just dying to enjoy the Hawaiian culture with others. I am back home in Hawaii now, but I lived on the Mainland for many years and it was always a blessing to get together with some of my buddies to play Hawaiian music.
At any rate, when you need a fix you can always come here to TaroPatch.net or swing over to www.hawaiimusicians.com. We are both easy going, laid back sites!

Hi Reid,
well, the story is long, but the short of it is that after 9/11 we decided we did not want to live that far away from our family. Most of them live east of the Rockies all the way to Florida. So we opted for the East Coast.
Are you going to the Camp this year? We will not make it this year but there are plans afoot for next year.
Aloha.

Thanks for the suggestion. There are two Marine bases close by. I will try to find some Hawai'ians and see if they are up to some music.
I will visit your site also.

Hi, nando,
Julie, from camp, forwarded me your letter about moving. I certainly understand your reasons, but felt so sad for you having to relinquish your dream.
Sorry you weren't at camp in April and won't be in August, I missed your great laugh.
Hang on to the aloha, it get's you through.
