Yes, I am here. To date, Taropatch.net has largely provided a forum fostering exchange of information. In my opinion there has been a lot of valuable information shared without exchanging tablature. While I see the good in your idea, I also realize that it would require a tremendous amount of time and know how regarding the legalities of distributing published works (especially the out-of-print materials.) Agreements would need to be drawn between artists, publishers, etc. Frankly, I do not think anyone has the time to execute this. I know that I do not.
On a side note, I have spoken to one slack key recording artist about setting up a page to sell tabs of the artist's original pieces. Perhaps it is possible on an individual basis - that is, it being more of an exception rather than the main focus of this site. Of course, this was only discussed in the most preliminary of stages and has not moved forward since. |

Thank you Andy, Legalities aside, I believe that once a basic agreement is drawn, the rest is basically maintenance. Anyway, I'm preparing another "New Topic" posting addressing this idea. I'm just waiting to hear back from some authors to complete my research before I post my queries.
You're gonna love me Andy...I love this discipline and I've got lot's of ideas to promote it. Ideas promote discussion, discussion promotes discussion sites, and discussion sites promote the creation of new ideas! |
