Aloha ka~kou,
Mahalo for your best wishes and prayers.
The wildfires were headed toward our Big Bear Valley home on three fronts and one front was climbing toward the valley a mile an hour. It came within six miles... and then as an answer to pule (prayer), the rains, then the snow, came and snuffed the fires out.
I'll share with you my chronicle of harrowing experience that I kept for our concerned families and friends, back home in Hawai`i: http://hwneye.fotopages.com/
Definitely, mine is an islander's perspective of the fires: "My heart is heavy this morning as I view (the picture of)what we saw last night from the safety of our car. It reminded me of the lava flows of my homeland, Hawai`i. Awe-inspiring. Beautiful. But this conflagration is much sadder than anything that I have witnessed, as these fires were intentionally set by arsonists."
Ahh, the power of the picking lehua!
Me ke Aloha, AuntyD http://hawaiianlanguage.com
