If you have not checked out www.hapa.com lately, the site has been updated. Check out the song clip which perhaps gives some insight of things to come from the latest incarnation of this group.quote: The song, Waika features Hawaiian Chant Master Charles Ka‘upu. Waika is taken from the ancient chant "Hole Waimea", a name song for Kamehameha I, inherited by his son, Liholiho. This is the tale of the Kipu`upu`u, a band of runners whose name is taken from Waimea`s pelting rain. Malanai is the gentle breeze. They were to be trained in spear fighting and went to Mahiki in Waimea, a woodland haunted by demons and spooks.
Nathan Aweau has a great voice and plays a killer bass. I hope to see great things from this duo.

Way to go Andy, for posting that. I got my postcard in the mail yesterday, they are coming to Santa Cruz, and hell, I got on the site from my HOME connection!!
Anyway bay area slackers, I am going to the Santa Cruz show with Jill on the 13th. The more the merrier I say. It's at the Rio on Soquel Av/Seabright. I saw Hapa there 2 years ago and it is a very nice old movie theater venue. Good sound, but not a bad seat in the house.
Cathe, Raymond, Ross, Julie and Larry, Cynthia and Lawrence, Stacey, Jerry and Diana...and everyone...I say if there is even a chance, then we make a show of it.
Thats my opinion, and I have many.
Aloha to all,
the Piffinator PS... Admirable Nelson, you so need to make a road trip down here Bruddah! |
