for several years i have recommended the triumph uke as the best quality starter uke out there, despite it's unusual shape. i still play mine regularly. it's as sturdy as they come. i've played gigs with it in the past. (i'm all reso all the time on gigs now.)

for the longest time, i could only find one person selling these. the price was $55 plus shipping and the case was an additional $40.

well, guess what -- thanks to a post on 4thpeg.com, i found the same uke for $35 and $16 for the case, and shipping is included in the price. here's the link
http://www.empire-music.com/US/English/Catalogue.cfm?ProductID=TR400 and here's a tiny url for the same, just in case : http://tinyurl.com/2zbqr

chango, i could've used it ages ago. and a week ago, when one of the guys in my band wanted one of these ukes and paid $68 with the shipping. anyway, you're new to ukulele. you will soon find that one is never enough. make this you're next one.
peace,
uke

Uke, I teach fifth grade and include playing as part of my curriculum. I'll try one on your recommendation. Thanks for the tip.

bernie, where (geographically) do you teach? i'm having a contest for grade schoolers on my web page -- an assembly program for the winner's school, and a uke for the winner each month this year. www.ukejackson.com
