Aloha all!
I've posted a few times, but I like the idea of a more formal introduction. My name is Patrick and I call myself Stringbreaker due to more than a few (ahem) incidents with tunings, sometimes on stage. I am a computer geek by trade and have been playing guitar for about 26 years. I got into slack key and tunings about 13 years ago and there is no turning back. My current obsession is a little book I wrote with 174 tunings with charts and references. You can find it at http://www.alluvialgems.com/Guitar_Page.htm where I provide some theory and other useful material. I am currently working on a book on slack key tunings and techniques, and I already have sections with all major scales for Taro Patch, G Wahine, C Ni'ihau and others. I've already visited the tuning list in the "learn" section of htis site (Wonderful reference section!!!)and I am still looking for slack key tunings, especially with songs and artists who use them. I've found more than a few, but they are scattered all over the internet. As soon as I have compiled a more comprehensive list, I will post them both here and on my site. If you are interested in crazy things like modal charts for odd tunings, I am you looney!
On the more personal side of things, I have been married for almost 13 years, have two three year old boys who are a great help in delaying my writing and research and keeping me down to earth. I play six and twelve string guitars, mostly in tunings and I have played in several bands, most of whom reside in well deserved obscurity.
I love this message board and the people who post here. Combining love of guitars and a sense of humor may not be as incompatible as I feared. ;)
Thanks to all of you who helped create and maintain this site.
