Hi folks,
Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm 45 years old. I've been interested in and enjoying hawaiian music and culture since I was 16 when my highschool girlfreind ( now my wife of 23 years ) invited me to stop by the hula studio she danced at. Wow! beautiful girls, great music, I was hooked. I played a little guitar at the time, but not a lot. Got married a few years later and while on our honeymoon in Kailua Kona I picked up Keola's first book ( the one with the plastic record stapled inside)and made my first attempts at slack key ( with out much success ) Then a couple years later along came my beautiful little girl and the guitar went into the closet.
Flash forward 19 years. My daughters in college, and my wife and I go to see Ozzie Kotani this past April, bought his book, got the guitar out of the closet and have not put it down since.

And now for a long overdue Mahalo to Raymond Stovich.

I found out about Raymond on a visit to taropatch and gave him a call. I met with him back in January and he patiently spent over 3 hours sharing his knowledge and love of ki ho alu. I can not stress enough how this has helped me. To actualy set down with someone and have it explained and SHARED . That time with Raymond has propelled my progress and I will definately shedule some more time with him soon.

Sorry for such a long intro. I promise my future post won't rambell on

Mahalo

Thanks for the kind words. People were, and continue to be, generous to me, and I'm happy to keep that part of the tradition alive.

Hey Raymond, I promise that the next time I'm in the Bay area I will definitely make the trip down!
