Kitty, the missing was mutual.

Ya know, I just did not think about Duke's beard being missing or Ed having a new do. Duke and Ed just look like Duke and Ed to me. Everybody looks just like they were or are. That's part of the pleasure, and the nostalgia, for us.

And, Keith, yup, the K-man lives just across the street from Pono :-) We have met him and Fred and Sarah talked to him in Hawaiian. The man talks *fast* and fluently. One amusing thing: he asked Sarah where we were from and the Hawaiian version of "Connecticut" stumped and stopped him :-) The rule in the neighborhood is very nice: treat him as just a good neighbor. No pressure.

And, where *is* Bill? He OK?

See y'all (been hearing too many Texans this week) sometime soon, I hope,

...Reid

Mahaaaaaalo to kevin and all the players, for making me feel so welcomed- it was a memorable experience. Kihoualu is more than nahe nahe music...it is really an expresion of aloha.
Kevin, I enjoyed your Talkstory about the sugar cane workers, Thanks again. Aloha Nui Loa and BIG, Steve

Aloha, Taropatch Ohana

What a joy it is to look back at those pictures, and see how much fun it was to have a gathering like that, and know matter what part of the world we came from, we all played with our heart's, and that's where slack key starts from.

When you come from San Francisco, stay in Oahu for a month, and fly to maui for a 5hr. jam session, and then fly back to Oahu, that is what you call, "true aloha for ki ho'alu". ( right on Fran.) Keith is a regular waihee slacker as far as i'm concern. Duke and Bob mahalo for that long drive from hana, I know it's only 2 hrs. but back here in the islands a half hour drive, is like an eternity for us.

It was great seeing everyone again, Pop's like kitty said, let us know when your coming, we usually get together on saturdays. If there's a party in the evening, then we hold it early in the morning, like 10am until 2pm. If we have something in the morning, then we get together in the late afternoon like 1pm. until the sprinkler comes on at 6pm. Pop's let us know what your schedule is like when you get to maui.

Lawrence mention about using the church grounds, the kahu,( minister.) of that church, also play's ki ho'alu and said what better place to play sweet music then on the grounds of a church that is 150 yrs. old. Maybe that's why everyone that comes there, can feel the "mana". We were invited to come and play at one of his services, I talked to him that morning before everyone came. We jus need to pick the sunday that is good for us, sorry i did'nt mention it when we were all there, i guess with all the excitment. So keith, fran, andy, reid, sarah, all of you from taropatch, or even if your not from TP, your welcome to join us on that sunday or any saturday that you might be on maui.

So maui slacker's, I'll check with kahu on a sunday that would be good for him, and i'll call or leave a post here at taropatch, incase any of you might be here on maui when we gather at the church. It'll be 4 numbers all together, in between the services. Let's pull out our church hymns from under the "punee" ( bed.) It's a great feeling to give back.

Me Ke Aloha
Kevin

Kevin, the community of Maui, the community of musicians, and the community of music lovers are very lucky to have you in their midst. Your special, beautiful way of singing and playing, your encouragement of all the players, your talent and knowledge gives the Waihe`e jam a special quality. I think your himeni proposal is another step further. I wish I could be there to help give back.

Fran

Thanks for the posts and photos! I only made it to the Bailey House once; and on my last visit, Kevin kindly hosted a one-on-one Waihee Jam with me. Looks like everyone had such a great time. Makes me want to return to Maui ASAP!

Hi Kevin, Ed, Kitty, David, Dan, Hal, Duke, Fran, Keith, Bob and those I haven't met online or in person! Aloha to slackkeybill too!

Wow, what a special kanikapila! Wish we'd been able to be there too. I looked at all the pictures and almost felt like I was there. Thanks Fran, Ed, Kitty, for posting them. Hey Ed, Like That Haircut! I remember your Ku'u Ipo Onaona. And Kevin, great Laptop Bass! Give Sheldon our aloha! Duke, so glad you were able to make it this time!

I can feel the warmth and hear the music and stories. Miss you all very much.

Aloha Kevin,
Hey, in those pictures I can't tell if you got the bass...or the bass got you!

Looked like a fun time. I'm hoping for a little less rain this November when Sibyl & I come over again; I'll make it to Waihe`e yet!

Aloha, is there anyway that a bunch of us can plan a trip to Maui, and we can all join in the fun? I hate to have to wait for George's next workshop in June. What about some time in March? Actually, I'm ready to jump on a plane now, but I have a contract to fulfill. Grumble. How's about November or early December. Anyone else thinking of going to Hawai'i la?

Aloha, Julie

Or maybe the waihee slacker's could come up there????

Keith and Ross will be coming in november, Let us know, who ever will be visiting maui. Leave a post on taropatch, and we'll give directions and times we can meet at waihee.

Do what you all want to do on Maui first, and leave waihee for the last.
We get together every saturdays, from mid-afternoon till the sun goes down. But they just installed water sprinklers and they go on at 6pm now.

Hope we can see the other tp ohanas, Just to tell you who "Plays Here On Maui", this includes those that also played from the bailey house too. We have, doctors, lawyers, school principles, carpenters, insurance agent's, mechanics, realtors, home rental agent, computer whiz, and others, all we need now is the Mayor and we got it locked in, haa! haa!

Let us know when your coming julie, or other TP ohana's. We welcome, ALL!!!!

Me Ke Aloha
Kevin

what an awesome jam! Great to see all the good people and make new friends. Some of the nahe nahe numbers we played together just carried me away. A huge mahalo to Kevin and Sheldon for contributing their heart and spirit and making the day possible. Yes, kihoalu is the voice of heart and spirit and the blending of everyones's sweet playing was uplifting and amazing. We drove backk to Hana all warm and fuzzy and haven't stopped smiling. Looking forward to many more Saturdays to come in unity, good fun and fellowship. Mahalo for the great photos. And yes, my name is Lisa. By the way, Bob and I are getting married Sept. 26th.
