This has nothing at all to do with slack key, hawaiian culture, music, or anything else usually discussed here. I have noticed there are some real cut-ups that write in, and I am having a hard time determining if BWOP or Gordonburt is the guru of the comedic retort.
I don;t know either of them, but i have gathered from posts and personal emails to and from both, that, (1) they are deeply enthusiastic about this site and all that goes on in it, and (2), they are really funny guys.
So, anybody know (or care) others on this site who may qualify for class clown (in the sincerest, kindest form of flattery)?
I only began with TP last February, so there may some "old-timers" who have not logged on lately that I have missed. At any rate, vote early, vote often.....and, no, I will not be tabulating results anytime soon.

Carrying this even further, why not a class curmudgeon? Most likely to succeed? Buffoon! Dummy (nah, bad idea). Guru (cpatch, rjs, reid woudl be somewhere in here). Wallflower (come on and post, you guys, we know you are out there!) Best dressed? Farthest north? (that could could also be "least relevant") Most intellectual?
(Uh-oh, time for an aside; lasst night reading a poorly written but interesting account of a teenager's trek from Chicago to Alaska, he mentioned meeting a college freshman along the way. They talked of schols, classes, and grades came up. The frosh voluteered that he had gotten straight As in high school. "Oh, you were valedictorian then?" "No," he replied, "I am Episcopalian!" SOrry.) How about, Most endearing, or cuddliest (based on what the write, of course)?? Auntie Nancy might get some votes, eh?
Well, if my instincts are correct, most of you will not respond to this ridiculous post, making me, by default, Most Ignored. I accept!

Hi Karl,
I met Bwop and Gordon Burt briefly this summer. Both are reserved in person. But I have to figure this website brings out their wickedly juvenile senses of humor.
As far as psychological profiling from web forum posts, I think the the only conclusion would be that we're all normal, except for a freakish obsession with a single type of ethnic music.
I'd be interested to hear other conclusions (put in a nice way).

Yeah - what's with this "NORMAL" stuff ! !

You need to take a lesson from Martin Mull's song:

"Lets get Normal for a Change"

OR was that a smoke screen because you really meant "NORML" ?

Nobody was normal then, except me, of course.......I didn;t inhale.

BTW, I have two questions about how to operate this site;
1. how do you get that little quote thingy to work, Jean? It is a net way to reference another's post
2. this morning i posted something in the Performance review forum, and noticed later it should have been posted under Recordings, etc. How does one edit or redirect one's own postings once they are posted?

 • You can click the 'Reply with Quote' icon
 • Or when you posting a message there is also an 'Insert Quote' icon
 • Or you can do it manually:
Quoted text here
<- Do it without spaces, though.

To edit your posts, look for the 'Edit Reply' icon . I cannot remember if you can move it to another forum or not.

Karl,

Yeah, you can just call me "regnaD kicN".

of course you should also recall Wavy Gravy's recent quote:

"The Sixties is what happened in the Seventies"

which is very true.

Getting serious about humor for a change...

The funniest thing I recall reading was a post by BWOP.
(actually, I can recall TWO very funny ones from him, one in pidgin, and the other in Acronyms)

Both had me "rolling in da isles"...

Gordon's stream-of-consiousness stuff is PDG too.

Aloha auntie Karl of the Frozen North...
If you're looking for class clown, you'd better add Dusty and Rik!! Have you checked the thread about who is eligible to play slack key this AM?

Martin Mull is one of the best musical performers you'll ever see. I don't think he tours anymore, but in his heyday of America Tonight I had the opportunity to see him at The Great American Music Hall in Atlanta. He totally blew me away, especially playing jazz/blues while suspended upside down on a sofa. Along with his dry wit, he had the audience in the palm of his hand for two hours. That performance is on my top ten concert list (which includes Hendricks at Monterey and the Beatles at the Cow Palace). If you can find one of his albums, I'd suggest "Sex and Violins". Great satire.

aloha!
I hope y'all don't mind opening up this thread again for some fun. I have listened to much more music lately. I have to say that for pure ability to sing the very best love songs, my vote goes to Keoki. His voice is the most carressing I have heard -
Also, Most Determined has to be Rik - slkho - he's one amazing dude!! He's been playing a year or so and is now heading up public gigs!!
Of course we have several candidate for Techies so I guess there would have to be sub-catagories. As far as the web goes, C-Patch seems to know everything. Recording? probably ilio nui, but I could be mistaken there.
Sharing most from the heart must be Kevin, but then there's hapakid, determined to learn all the aspects of the Hawai'ian culture, history and music and paint the intertwined picture.
And I think Andy is clearly the most dedicated to making sure our ohana continues it's pursuit of ki ho'alu and kind aloha spirit.
Mahalo to all -

So this is the place where all the conversations and deals happen...
I thought it was the 12-step meetings!

Sometimes I feel like Miss America in a swimsuit, "I just want to be taken seriously!"

I do see a lot of brilliance in others around the patch...

Myself, I was most likely to recede...
And I don't know why I do this rambling thing, but my guess there's repression and an ache to contribute, but only my hairdresser knows for sure. Oh, I forgot, my hairdresser STARVED.
DSM 4 should offer a clue.
And like an ol' hippy, I seek "Peace through Music".

But Ya know that once ya get a quiet person talking, you can't shut em up.
Thanks, for the kind words though.
