Anyone know the melody or music to John "Squeeze Kamana's mele -- Pua Mae 'Ole. It is on page 227 of "He mele Aloha". The He Mele Aloha web site doesn't have the solfege for it or mp3. A friend, Harry Moss siad he would record a version and send me the tape but he is too happy in his retirement (just doggin ya Gunny). I have the chords and heard it once and loved it but I don't know the melody.

I recently bought Raiatea Helm's new CD "Sweet and Lovely". She has a nice version of the song. It's an old song, so if you go to www.mele.com and listen to a 60-second clip (Thanks Auntie Maria) , you might realize you know it. Otherwise, Raiatea's album is worth the money!
I'm enjoying the "He Mele Aloha" songbook, but I have to go looking for melodies, too.

Mahalo! I bought the Riatea Helm CD and I gotta say her falsetto is unbelievable. She is singing in couple of different keys from the He Mele Aloha book. I'll see if I can work it out, tab it, and submit for the Kanaka bras to correct this memory impaired Kama'aina. |
